What Does Freedom Really Mean?

Today, in the United States of America, we celebrate the 4th of July, our Independence Day as a country. Many people will be gathering with friends and family, shooting fireworks and eating food. But do we all really get what Independence Day is about?

Many people in America just see today as an off day from work or a day where we fellowship with family, but there's more to today than that. Independence was something that was fought for and won. The United States of America wasn't a name we just got, we fought for that too. Think for a moment about all the sacrifices that were made before our time and some that are still going on in our time to keep America the way it is: land of the free, home of the brave.

Take a moment today and think about what July 4th means to you besides the cookouts, the family, the friends and to most, the off day from work. And if you would like to share your thoughts, please feel free to drop a comment. God Bless our troops still fighting for our freedom everyday. I hope everyone understands the real meaning behind today. Happy Independence Day!

Having been in the military and to countries where freedom is only a word I especially appreciate all this country has. I remember returning to the States and kissing the ground and thanking GOD for bringing me home safe. God Bless our troops and their families. God Bless those that have these freedoms even if they don’t realize they do and the blood of others have made that possible.

We take so many things for granted but this is one thing we shouldn’t. I’m very grateful for the many sacrifices that have been made and that are being made for me and today is just a reminder of how good this country has it
