The Sports Awakening Presents…Making The Possible

March is Women's History Month and there are plenty of women that have done some wonderful things. Just take a look around the world today and we see women breaking new ground each and every day. In the sports world, things are no different at all. We here at The Sports Awakening want to take some time to highlight some Black women in the sports world that are doing some good things. From writing on sports, to covering sports to talking sports, these women that have been selected are doing their thing despite what anyone says or does.

For the rest of the month of March, The Sports Awakening will be bringing you feature articles of some great women. You will find out how they started, where they have been and what they are doing now. And hopefully you will find out that they are great people and great examples for women that are trying to get into the field of covering or talking sports.

Some may wonder why I wanted to do this project and wanted to highlight Black women in the game during Women's History month. Well, that answer is simple. Early on the morning of August 25th in the year 2013, my wife woke me up and told me it was time. At that point in time, Tiffany, my wife, was past her due date and our child could come at any time. Needless to say, I was a little discombobulated at first but quickly sprung into action as Tiffany, my mother-in-law and I all rode down to Vanderbilt Hospital. Twelve hours later, our first child was born. Amani Elise Patton was born into my life and from there, I have been smiling ever sense (for most of the time at least lol).

There are no limits with Amani, as I want her to feel she can do anything. With this project, I wanted to show her that through hard work, determination and talent, you can make anything happen, making the possible happen as a strong Black woman that she will grow to be.

So stay tuned to see at least one a week from this series and prepare to be amazed by the work of these great women.
